Contest Rules for Launch L-A 2010

  1. Participation is free.
  2. Applicants must be no older than 30 years of age in calendar year 2010, and must not currently be living in Androscoggin County, Maine. Applicants must have lived outside of Androscoggin County, Maine for the past nine consecutive months.
  3. Applicants must have roots to the Lewiston-Auburn community, i.e. must have lived here or worked here at some time in the past. For example, lived in the community, attended college, was born here, etc. Applicants with roots to the community will be rated on a 10-point scale – the deeper the roots, the higher the points.
  4. Applicants with incomplete applications will be disqualified. Be sure to read each question carefully, and answer each question thoroughly.
  5. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges. Finalists will be invited to give an oral presentation via teleconferencing, conference call, or in person. Community members will be involved in determining the winner.
  6. All entrants agree to have their work featured in any and all promotional materials indefinitely, and agree to have their photos and work featured in various media.
  7. Funds, materials, and in-kind services must be used for legitimate business use outlined in a written contract signed at time of determining a winner or is forfeited back to LAEGC.
  8. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
  9. The winner must work closely with a mentor or mentors for six months.
  10. Entry materials become the property of the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council and won’t be returned unless prior arrangements are made.
  11. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations. LAEGC and its sister corporations and contest sponsors accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the contest or acceptance, possession, or use of any prize or funds awarded. LAEGC and its sister corporations cannot be held liable for any business or personal loss resulting from the contest, from the proposed business, or from any prize or consulting advice provided, and furthermore cannot guarantee the success of any business venture. LAEGC does not guarantee start-up company success or profit resulting from this contest. As with any business, the winning business is responsible for paying any and all outstanding debts and costs associated with the business not covered by the specified prize benefits. LAEGC reserves the right to make rules and promotion changes at its discretion at any time.
